In October, students explored Nashville building permit data and property assessment data along with zip code-level tax return data to understand how the supply and demand of affordable housing has been changing since 2009.

In February of 2018, NSS partnered with the Office of Biomedical Research Education and Training (BRET) at the Vanderbilt University Medical School to begin shaping an Introduction to Data Science for post-doctoral students. This program, Data Science Essentials, was funded by a grant from the Burroughs Wellcome fund and consists of three parts.

Before attending Nashville Software School’s (NSS) Data Science Bootcamp, Justin Rothbart was a workforce analyst for an insurance company. He was working with Excel and SQL but was looking to grow as an analyst and learn more tools. As he explored ways to automate parts of his job, he kept running into Python and R which sparked his interest in programming. He started to look at Master’s programs, but found NSS’s data science program and decided to apply.
