On Saturday Nashville Software School and Tech Hill Commons was filled with energy from the Nashville tech community for BarCamp Nashville. The doors opened at 8am and the building quickly filled with eager learners. With sessions ranging from interviewing, to how to speak at BarCamp, to VR and AI, there was something for everyone.
Several students joined us at our booth throughout the day to talk with BarCamp attendees about their NSS experience and we gave away some awesome orange NSS notebooks and four books ranging from Python to web usability.
A few NSS students and alumni also sat down with the BarCamp podcast crew.
Evening 5 student Isabel Ramos sat down with NSS alum Courey Elliot to discuss how Isabel is combining her design background with software development. When Courey asked Isabel her advice to new NSS students, she exclaimed, “Do your pre-work!”
Michael Conrad, an NSS alum, spoke about his job at the Works Institute and volunteering at BarCamp Nashville.
Another NSS alum, David Cramb, shared about navigating a full-time job, part-time bootcamp, and a new baby.
Callan Morrison, an NSS alum and our Product Manager, shared about how she made the decision to transition from marketing to software development and how she stays involved with the Nashville tech community.
We’re already looking forward to next year!
