A Challenging Year for NSS

2023 has been a challenging year for NSS, perhaps even more challenging than 2020!  😮‍💨 Our prospective applicants and recent graduates have experienced unprecedented challenges, including the longest slow-down in software developer hiring in our 11 year history, layoffs, inflation, the return of student loan repayments, rising rents, and higher daycare costs.  

This has led to low numbers of full tuition students and delayed placements and repayment from Opportunity Tuition students. When you combine both of these at the same time, it means we’re under cash flow stress and unable to accommodate all of the qualified applicants who need our support.

If there was ever a year NSS needed your financial support, it’s 2023.

$25,000 Goal

Since launching our 2023 Fall Fundraiser last week, the NSS community has shown up in a big way in helping us towards our goal of $25,000 towards scholarships. We’re already nearing the $7,000 mark! Despite all the challenges we’ve faced in 2023, we are seeing some recent signs of improvement in the job market and the number of applicants to our programs. But even if the market has reached bottom, the recovery for NSS is going to take a while.
