After working from home in Knoxville became boring for her, Breanna Coach of Full-time Web Development Cohort 47 started exploring her options to make a career change when she discovered that Nashville Software School (NSS) had begun holding classes virtually. Without hesitation, or the need to move to Nashville in order to attend class, Breanna quit her job to pursue web development full time and hasn't looked back! “I needed some excitement, an outlet to express my creativity, and a role that enabled me to learn something new everyday...and pay a few bills,” she laughs.
What was your favorite capstone project and what about it made it your favorite?
“My final capstone, DoubleCheck- creating a mobile app gave me the opportunity to focus on the specifics of UI/UX issues of on-the-go applications. On the coding side of things, being able to build a full stack app starting from the ERD and SQL script to the front end really gave me a better understanding of all the working parts of development!”
What was your favorite part of your NSS experience?
“My favorite part was honestly the PEOPLE! I 100% feel that everyone ending up in the same cohort was fate. NSS really does a great job of creating an awesome community within both the organization and each individual cohort, and as a class we alI worked so well together. All the instructors and my entire class were so supportive — through both the ‘aha’ moments and cry breaks! I’m pretty determined, but I couldn’t have done it without them and I truly am forever grateful to have gone through the program as a member of Cohort 47.”
What advice would you give to current or incoming NSS Web Development students?
“Even when you’ve convinced yourself otherwise, asking questions and needing help is okay! We’re all there to learn and everyone at NSS is so supportive and helpful. Asking for assistance is the best thing you could do for yourself and your classmates!”
HIRE BREANNA
Since graduating, Breanna has begun her search for her first job in web development! “On top of developing outstanding software, I'm pretty chill, very funny thanks to 'The Office', and can cry on command,” she jokes. “I welcome all opportunities to showcase any of those skills!”
