Thinking about a career in tech but feeling rushed to apply for a January bootcamp start? We have some good news.
We’re adjusting the start dates for our upcoming January bootcamps to February or March (dates to be announced soon).
This means you have a valuable extension to complete your application, attend an info session, take a Jumpstart, and mentally prepare for this exciting step into a new career. This extra time is an opportunity for you to solidify your choice and get ready.
We offer virtual Software Development and Data Analytics Info Sessions to provide deep dives into our programs and answer your questions. You can register here:
Not sure which path is right for you? Our 3-week, part-time introductory Jumpstart programs are a hands-on way to try out the field without committing to a full bootcamp. Each Jumpstart is only $150. The next Software Development Jumpstart starts Saturday, January 10th, and the Analytics Jumpstart starts on February 7th.
If you’ve already applied to a bootcamp, make sure to schedule your interview ASAP. You can then get started on the pre-work for your bootcamp.
Deciding on a new career path can feel daunting, especially if you’re coming from a non-tech background. We encourage you to use this bonus time to hear directly from recent NSS alumni who successfully navigated this journey.
Alumna Kasey Endsley (Web Development Cohort 76) came from veterinary medicine and restaurant management. Her journey proves that your previous experiences—and a strong support network—are valuable assets in a career change.
Kasey shared that despite the difficulties of the full-time bootcamp, seeing her first viable product was a huge moment: "Our instructor was nothing but supportive and was always willing to lend an ear and help us with anything that we had. But going through those first few months and then seeing our first viable product, that was a huge breakthrough moment for me."
She also encourages those on the fence to go for it: "I think they should absolutely do it. These are skills that you can carry with you. There's really no ceiling on this. You can take this as far as you wanna take it, and it starts with that first step."
Alumna Jenni Roselle (Data Analytics cohort DDA16) transitioned from working as a hairdresser to compliance analysis during the pandemic. Like many career changers, she was nervous about the formal job search, but credits the NSS support systems with preparing her for success.
"The mock interviews were so valuable being able to get a taste of what that process is like... I don't think that I could have gone confidently into my job hunt without the support that I got from the career development center at NSS," Jenni noted.
Jenni also offered reassurance regarding the current job market, emphasizing NSS’s non-profit mission to focus on outcomes: "If you're only on the fence because you're not sure that the jobs are out there, I think that NSS is the absolute best place that you can be. The career counseling is top notch... [NSS] is not interested in putting out more professionals than there are jobs available."
We look forward to partnering with you on your journey to a career in tech!
