“I only heard great things. About seven of my friends graduated from NSS. I asked them plenty of questions, went to an open house and asked plenty more. It felt hands-on and that you can still connect with others even after you finish. Great support system.”
“Definitely I would say it being virtual. I felt like I could ask questions whenever and the teachers were amazing, my classmates though, the best. We have a group chat now. We're stuck with each other and again just feeling supported by a community of people who are passionate and want to do more in tech!”
“My favorite part of creating my capstone project app, Sobrli, was seeing it done. One of the reasons I wanted to get into tech was to create an app that helped people with their addictions & stay sober. My Mama was a substance abuse counselor and I always admired how she first overcame her addictions and was able to stay clean but also help others and really had a community of support. During the pandemic I noticed we're all home, some alone and some still battling those addictions. I wanted to create something that helped people still get motivation, hence the motivational quotes, and keep up with their feelings and receive support from others. I was able to create that with Sobrli. So yes, the best part of creating it was seeing it through and knowing I can always add to it.”
“Besides getting used to learning again, I would say having patience with myself and understanding that it takes time, but I wasn't used to not knowing stuff. It was frustrating but it was fun, but I had my days, nights and weeks, where I wanted to give up. But I would take a break and feel better.”
“Just know, you'll never stop learning, you know more than you think you do, and be sure to connect with others, I've noticed other programmers/engineers really enjoying sharing what they've learned. I'm definitely one of them!”
