“I ended up just looking for greener pastures, so to speak,” he laughs. “I have a background in media and worked with computers a lot when I did editing, so I figured I could look into [software development],” he shares in his podcast.
Having seen first hand the impact NSS had on his friends' lives that attended the program, Joshua had the confidence to pursue it as a career for himself and the rest, as they say, is history!
“My favorite project was my front-end capstone called Stitch Saver. I found it to be the most useful for me personally. It definitely has a very specific audience it solves problems for, but I think it solves those problems well.”
“My biggest roadblocks were definitely self-doubt and assuming that I should know the answers without asking instructors for clarification or assistance.”
“I would say to try to not compare yourself to others and to ask questions, regardless of if it embarrasses you or not. Chances are pretty good that the question you are asking is on other people's minds as well.”
Now that Josua has graduated, he is excited to find his first job in tech where he can apply his knowledge and grow his skills.
I hope to meet and make meaningful working connections with other developers and expand my skill base along the way!
