Kyle Anyce Bearden of Web Development Cohort 46 was attending a local college to become a social worker when she realized that traditional learning wasn’t the best fit for her. She started looking for other ways that she could help make an impact in her career when she found Nashville Software School (NSS). “I've always been an organized and detailed person, so software development felt like a good fit for me,” she remembers. “After many conversations and recommendations, I ended up at NSS and have been loving every minute.” 

Why did you choose to attend NSS?

“For the community and the hands-on experience.”

What was your favorite part of your NSS experience?

“All of the lab time was so fun! I loved being able to work independently or go hop in a room with some others and have my questions answered.”

What was your favorite capstone project and why?

“It's too hard to choose! I feel like my front-end capstone was really impressive and challenging to work on. My back-end capstone was fun because I had wanted to make that project for years.”

What roadblocks did you encounter along the way?

“Switching to the back-end was incredibly difficult. It was such a huge change right after the adrenaline rush of presenting my front-end capstone. I felt alone until I reached out to some other students... and the responses came flooding in that everyone felt that way. We pooled our resources together and helped each other out of the rut. And we made it!”

What advice would you give to current or incoming NSS Web Development students?

“Put in the work, take the notes, write the code!”
